Job Description
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering (MBA or advanced degree preferred), with 10+ years of electrical engineering and development experience. This position will be responsible for researching, creating and designing complete electrical interconnect system layouts and power and control distribution strategies, and applying the principles and techniques of electrical engineering. Applicant must have previous connector development experience.
Tasks:
- Confer with engineers, customers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects and products pertaining to electrical connectors and cable assemblies.
- Design, implement, maintain, and improve electrical interconnect systems for commercial, industrial, factory automation and domestic purposes.
- Operate computer-aided engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks. Solid Works and Auto Cad.
- Direct and coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements. Example: UL, CSA, NFPA 71 & 79, Mil Spec
- Perform detailed calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, construction, and installation standards and specifications for electrical connectors and cable assemblies.
- Inspect completed installations and observe operations, to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards.
- Plan and implement research methodology and procedures to apply principles of electrical theory to engineering projects.
- Prepare specifications for purchase of materials and equipment. Examples: Raw Cable Specifications, Electrical Insulators and Contacts, and various electrical connector housings.
- Supervise and train project team members as necessary.
- Investigate and test vendors' and competitors' products and prepare written reports.
- Oversee project production efforts to assure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time and within budget. Communication to various manufacturing sites.
- Prepare and study technical drawings and specifications of electrical systems, to ensure that installation and operations conform to current standards and customer requirements.
- Investigate customer complaints, determine nature and extent of problem, and recommend remedial measures. Examples: 8D Report, FMEA, various corrective actions.
- Compile data and write reports regarding existing and potential engineering studies and projects.
